All last week, I have had multi coloured fingers.
Printer malfunctions and dye disasters.

The black fingers were for the benefit of "Children in need" last Friday.
No, I didn't get sponsored to see how filthy I could get my hands.
I was trying to dye 3 hairbands black for the girls costumes.
Yes, I could have just bought black hairbands to start with, but they didn't have any in the shop and I had a bus to catch.
They had to dress up as teachers and the teachers were going to dress up as pupils.
This was Ria's idea, as she is on the school council, and she was cursed for it when I had tea boiling over, Logan screaming, mess everywhere and 2 more costumes to make.

It was ridiculously difficult to find a picture of a teacher in this style on the web.
I searched, teachers cloak & cape, then discovered it was called a gown or a robe. Then just copied the look of american graduation robes.
Its only some black polycotton, a bit of ribbon and a few hems. Nothing to fancy.
The mitre board hats are cardboard squares, cut out by Ian, (who probably now thinks he's some kind of crafter, that man reheats a tin of beans and claims to be a chef!), painted black by Tabatha with a tasel and held onto a hairband with a black elastic.
I am willing to stake my reputation on them being in pieces by the end of the day.

Their hairbands aren't even black, those ones didn't take the dye and then promptly broke!
So I had black fingers for nothing!
And I'm not done for coustumes yet, the girls have informed me that they will be playing the part of a robber, a bird and a goblin in their school christmas production of Hansel & Gretel.

I think they look fabulous! good work!
If I was the teacher at the school your kids attend, I would always assign your girls the most elaborate costumes for plays and productions! You come up with the most clever designs and your children are simply charming! How did the teachers look dressed as the kids? What a fun time! x
Oh, but they look so cute! And I totally sympathize with the difficulties of dying. I tried my hand at it last week, and came away with fingers dyed every colour of the rainbow. If only the fabric would have taken the dye as well as my skin did!
